APUSH Independent Study Project |
Following our AP US History exam, students will be responsible for designing six (6) independent (or semi-independent) study projects. Each student is responsible for completing three (3) projects - all three (3) independently or two (2) independently and one (1) small group.
Students then created rubrics for one (1) of the projects that they are NOT completing. Below, please find the project descriptions & rubrics. |
"Roast"- 1 American figure
- 5min "roast" - can be done alone or in a small group - material for the "roast" must be school appropriate - must include an image of the figure (on SmartBoard) - information must be historically accurate - submit a typed speech or outline |
Cereal Box- 1 American figure (living or dead); must be approved by Ms. Grotrian
- essentially respond to the question: "How did (X) impact American History?" - information is to be presented using four (4) sides of an actual cereal box - provide basic historical background - explain how or why your figure "rose to greatness" - accuracy & content are crucial - provide a minimum of 4 images (1 image of the person, 1 image of the person "in action", plus 2 more) - use of space & color |
What If?- select a significant event in American history and propose an alternative outcome
- must be presented logically & be an original idea - 2-3pgs, Times New Roman, 12pt font, double-spaced - requires one-two sources regarding actual historical facts; no sources required for your alternative history perspective |

- ad may focus on an invention, movement, or cause
- physical poster is mandatory to display your ad - you may also create Google Slides to aid in your presentation, but this is not a requirement - maximum presentation time for ads is 5min - presentation and perspective must be original & creative |
- video presentations are to be no longer than 5min
- videos may be filmed skits, a historical event set to music/song/lyrics VBQs - should utilize a variety of media - should be able to be completed in 15-20min by fellow students |
- 10 memes with description of the historical event being referenced.
- 5 memes from 19th century events, 5 memes from 20th century events - memes must be presented in Google Slides, alternating meme and historical background explanation |
